ALI Insider Part VI: New Adaptive Tags

Adaptive Tags were a new and welcome innovation in ALI 6.0, and to some extent, the 5.x versions. 6.5 makes another dramatic leap forward by implementing tags for virtually every part of the navigation available as a tag:

These tags are what make Adaptive Layouts possible, but imagine all the different possibilities for you to use them yourself in your custom code, or by modifying the adaptive layouts themselves. To give you an idea of some of the possibilities, consider the list below:

  1. Implementing an AJAX-based navigation tree for Knowledge Directory folders
  2. Creating tag-based search portlets like Snapshot Queries
  3. Developing radical new page layouts
  4. Implementing a “maximize” button on a portlet to enable it to expand to the whole page
